Don't Ask to Ask, Just Ask

Website: https://dontasktoask.com/ Meaning: Don’t be general or conceptual. If you can look at a question and say “What am I actually asking?” the question is too vague. This is important because people who take their time out to answer these questions will generally want more context, and if you’re just asking because you’re too lazy to think the question through yourself — to care — why would anybody invest any time and energy into answering it?

The Five Things All Questions Should Have

Be sure to include these five things when asking for help

  1. What do I think the problem is?
  2. What exactly do I want to happen?
  3. What is actually happening?
  4. How did I get there?
  5. What have I tried so far?
